Wild Rock is a very well known New Zealand producer of Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc; and from time to time they produce a really well-made rose, which is the case with this gorgeous 2008; a bright fruit driven wine made primarily from Merlot with a little Malbec, Syrah and Pinot Noir juice blended in. The wine possesses a medium salmon color, a super nose of red fruits, kirsch, strawberries, and spice, tremendous fruit, surprising body and richness, and a silky smooth texture. This delicious New Zealand rose, which coats the palate with flavor, will drink well for another 8-12 months, but who has that much discipline. This is the perfect summer quaffer; serve it ice cold!
