A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, there are approximately 2,000 cases of this fabulous sleeper of the vintage. It exhibits a dark ruby/purple hue along with notes of blueberries, black raspberries, pain grille, and white chocolate. Full-bodied with superb richness, a layered texture, a multidimensional mouthfeel, and a finish that lasts nearly 40 seconds, it can easily compete with some of the vintages top crus. Consume it over the next decade.
2005 Barnett Spring Mountain Merlot "375 ML" 1/2 Bottles
$ 24.99The wine exhibits a full purple color exhibiting aromas of bright plum and white chocolate. This is complemented by plenty of cardamom spice and clove. The palate is medium to full in body, typical to form for quality merlot, with deeper pomegranate fruit and anise. The tannins are round, full, and balanced with the natural acidity. The finish is lingering and of sweet black licorice. This wine will only continue to improve over the next 5-7 years. With passion and patience, Fiona and Hal Barnett created this vineyard and winery in 1983 with the intent of producing small amounts of hand crafted Cabernet Sauvignon wines from their estate. Since the first vintage of Barnett Vineyards, Spring Mountain has proven to deserve it's own AVA and become known as a unique microclimate, producing exceptional Cabernet Sauvignons and Merlots. The vineyards are located at the top of Spring Mountain, at elevation 2,000 ft, and planted on steep terraces that follow the contour of the land. In some places, the grade averages in excess of 35%. Mountainside farming is very challenging. The vines must struggle to reach nutrients and water in the soil and, as a result, yield only one to two tons per acre. The elements of sun, temperature, and well-drained porous soils give an advantageous water stress to the vines and contribute to the depth, richness and character of the wines. Grapes are harvested by hand in the vineyard row by row, as optimum ripeness and maturity is reached. Fermentation is done in small batches.
2008 Chateau La Fleur de Bouard (Lalande de Pomerol) »FUTURES«
$ 26.99The 2008 La Fleur de Bouard was cropped at 25 hectoliters per hectare, and the final blend is 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine came in at 13% natural alcohol. Its dense purple color is accompanied by a big, sweet nose of white chocolate, creme de cassis, licorice, tar, and toast. A lively, crisp acid profile is due to the lack of serious heat in 2008. Textured and long, it is capable of lasting a decade or more. This is a sleeper of the vintage. 90-93 Points, Robert Parkers' Wine Advocate, Issue#182 The term wine future refers to buying wine shortly after it is made at the winery, but before it is bottled and shipped. Buying wine futures allows you to lock in a significantly discounted price relative to what the wine will sell for on general release. When the wine arrives at B-21, customers who purchased futures will be notified that the wine is ready for shipment. 2008 Bordeaux will begin arriving in 2011.
Tamber Bay 2007 Deux Chevaux Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
$ 33.98The 2007 Deux Chevaux Cabernet Sauvignon displays amazing depth and pedigree. Cassis, creosote, white truffle and a subtle Asian spice component greet the senses. Once on the pallet, plush tannins intermixed with a kaleidoscope of dark fruits and Belgium chocolate notes fall into a mid pallet that has an amazing roundness due to its 10% Merlot addition. The finish is where this wine really excels. Ripe and velvety fruit once attacks the pallet with an uncanny balance of wood overtones and minerality, which glide effortlessly into a long finish. Look for this wine to provide immediate enjoyment upon release, yet it will also reward the patient few who can cellar it for 5 to 10 years.

2006 Larkmead Firebelle Napa Valley
$ 44.99"The 2006 Firebelle Proprietary Red (1,800 cases) is a blend of 55% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Malbec, aged 18 months on its lees. A beautiful nose of sweet black cherries, white chocolate, coffee beans, and subtle earthiness is followed by a full-bodied, powerful, moderately tannic wine that looks set for 10-15 years of aging. It is accessible already, with its terrific aromatics and plush, succulent style. It is also a fairly priced wine from one of the benchmark vineyards of Napa Valley." 91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Issue 180
2004 ChateauTroplong Mondot (Saint-Emilion)
$ 49.99"At the Union des Grands Crus tasting in 2005, this was elegant red ambrosia; it showed beautifully sweet and ripe at our recent tasting in New York. A gracious pillow of merlot with mineral tannins to make it mouthwatering and lengthen the finish, this only gets better with air. Oak adds to the elegance of the wine and it seems destined to drink well over the course of the next ten years or more. The château was upgraded to Premier Grand Cru Classé status in 2006." 92 points - Wine & Spirits, October 2007 "Aromas of blackberry, with hints of tobacco. Full-bodied, with fine tannins, good length and a delicate, fruity aftertaste. Much more refined than I remember from barrel. Caressing. Best after 2007. 5,000 cases made." 90 points - Wine Spectator, March 31, 2007 "Sweet cherry, white chocolate, black currant, and crushed rock-like characteristics are present in this medium-bodied St.-Emilion. Excellent richness, spicy tannin, and hints of underbrush and herbs in the finish result in an excellent rather than brilliant Troplong-Mondot that must take a back seat to their other-worldly 2005 and impressively endowed 2006. Give it 2-4 years, and it could have outstanding potential." 89 points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Issue 171
2006 Emmolo "South 40 Ranch" Syrah
$ 52.95This wine was made by Charles Wagner, son of the owner of Caymus vineyards and the son of Cheryl Emmolo" This is the first vintage! Nestled along the Silverado Trail is a small vineyard that has become known to our family as our “South 40 Ranch”. For years, my father sold these grapes to other wineries. Recently, our family decided to produce a limited bottling of Syrah to honor my father, Frank Emmolo. I am making this wine to pay tribute to my Dad’s lifelong dedication to the art of wine grape growing in Napa Valley. Our debut release is packed with intense black fruit, hints of earthiness, firm tannins and lots of heart. Thanks Dad". Cheryl Emmolo About The Winery Cheryl Emmolo, owner and founder of Emmolo Wine Company, was born into the wine business that has grown up around her in Napa Valley in recent decades. Her grandfather, Salvatore Emmolo, had established a rootstock nursery in St. Helena in 1923. The stone winery that he built on Galleron Road still stands, but was never used â a victim of Prohibition but still a part of Napa Valleyâs historic landscape. Cherylâs father, Frank Emmolo, took over management of his fatherâs nursery. At the same time â and continuing today â he grew grapes on his 43-acre vineyard, known as "River Ranch," in the prestigious Rutherford District. As a young girl, Cheryl helped her father by driving the tractor and assisting with other viticultural tasks in that vineyard. The Emmolo's had planted Sauvignon Blanc on the River Ranch vineyard, on Mee Lane, in the 1950âs fortunately on phylloxera-resistant St. George rootstock. Frank Emmolo selected the same St. George rootstock when, in 1990, he planted Merlot on 2.4 acres at a second family vineyard site on Galleron Road. Over the years, Frank has supplied grapes to a number of top Napa Valley wineries, including the Robert Mondavi Winery and the Hess Collection. The Sauvignon Blanc has also historically been a part of Caymus Vineyardsâ white wine program. In 1994, Cheryl founded Emmolo Wine Company for two key reasons: to fulfill a lifelong ambition to make her own wine and to extend her familyâs legacy to her three children, Charlie, Joey
2004 Forman Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
$ 59.99(about 75% cabernet sauvignon, the rest merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot) Bright ruby-red. Rich, brooding, laid-back nose features cassis, mulberry, licorice and violet. Then smooth and very suave in the mouth, with crunchy, sappy boysenberry and raspberry flavors lifted by spices. A rich, sweet wine that finishes with broad tannins, strong minerality and noteworthy persistence. This went through its malolactic fermentation in barrel, then was racked and lightly fined for the first time in December of 2005. It had just been racked off the finings when I tasted it, and Ric Forman planned to bottle it without filtration. 94 points, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, May/Jun 06 The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon (includes Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Merlot in the blend) spent 20 months in barrels prior to bottling. Dark ruby/purple with a restrained but sweet nose of black currants, plums, damp earth, licorice, and white chocolate, it is an elegant, medium-bodied, opulent effort with sweet tannin and a long finish. This is a strong vintage for Formans Cabernet, and it should age nicely for 15 or more years. 91 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Issue #168
1997 Merryvale Vineyards Beckstoffer Cabernet Sauvignon
$ 109.99Outstanding Hand picked lots of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes were selected from small Beckstoffer Vineyard blocks throughout Napa Valley to make this classic. Characteristic of the 1997 vintage, it is very dark purple in color and richly extracted. It is concentrated and toasty with complex dark berry flavors. The wine was aged in French oak chateau barrels and a light fining with fresh egg whites was used to sculpt the ripe tannins. The wine was bottled unfiltered. Established in 1983, Merryvale is credited as the first winery built in Napa after the repeal of Prohibition. The fortitude of great winemaking thrives in the hands of owner Jack W. Schlatter and his son, Rene Schlatter. The winery is founded upon a vision to capture the essence of Napaâs vineyards in complex, rich and supple wines that rival the best in the world. Merryvale crafts elegant, complex world-class wines that reflect both the exuberant fruit from Napaâs finest vineyards and yet is stylized as a fine European blend.
1989 Chateau Leoville du Marquis de Las Cases
$ 175.00Tasted California-like in its ripe, sweet, black-cherry fruit, nicely-integrated, toasty new oak, and clean, pure winemaking style. A tighter, more compact finish is the result of elevated tannin, but this is an outstanding, rich, medium-weight Las Cases that tastes less well-endowed than originally predicted.. Still youthful with no amber at the edge of its healthy deep ruby/purple color. Improve in 8-12 years. Leoville-Las Cases has a long history dating back to before the French Revolution when it was part of a larger estate. The largest portion of the vineyards are known as the Grand Clos and are located across the Juillac tributary from the Chateau Latour Vineyards. There are 97 hectares planted in Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Merlot (19%), Cabernet Franc (13%) and Petit Verdot (3%). Major replanting was accomplished in the 1950s with the vines of today averaging about 30 years old. Grapes are harvested by hand, crushed and can be fermented in a variety of vats of different sizes: wood, concrete or stainless steel. The wine is aged in oak barrels for 18-20 months before being fined with egg whites and then put in bottles. In 1976, the vintage was ranked sixth among the top ten French and California red wines in the Judgement of Paris wine competition.
