$ 8.49A brilliant overachiever as well as a sleeper of the vintage, this dense ruby/purple-tinged 2008 emerges from a vineyard site not far from Smith-Haut-Lafitte. A blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon that was cropped at very low yields as a result of challenging flowering and growing conditions, it boasts a deep ruby/purple color along with a sweet nose of tobacco leaf, red currants, and blacker fruits. Opulent, round, and pure with good underlying acidity as well as ripe tannin, it should be drunk over the next 7-8 years. 90-92 Points, Robert Parkers' Wine Advocate, Issue#182. Whitehall Lane 2005 Pinot Noir Carneros
$ 12.98This is a solid Pinot Noir from a top-notch Napa Valley winery. Known mostly for their Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, this is a varietal that Whitehall Lane had great success with in the 2005. About the vintage: The 2005 growing season in Carneros started with cool, wet weather, followed by mild summer months. With ample moisture in the soil and warm days, the Pinot Noir ripened slowly and evenly. The grapes were harvested from the Las Brisas Vineyard and the Sangiacomo Vineyard in the middle of September when the fruit displayed ideal balance and juicy, ripe flavors. Tasting note: The 2005 Whitehall Lane Carneros Pinot Noir is beautifully balanced, displaying aromas and flavors of ripe cherry, strawberry, clove and toasty oak. It is supple, clean and smooth on the mid-palate with a savory crème brulee finish. Enjoyable now and for several years to come. This is a solid bottle of Pinot Noir!
