2006 Barriere Merlot Vin de Pays D'oc
$ 7.99Sourced and bottled by the Bordeaux negociant and importer, Barriere Freres, this Merlot from the South, a Vin de Pays D'oc wine, is an excellent value. It is ripe and dry and shows a chocolately exterior and tender black cherry. The acids are low and the tannins are nearly not present. This is a nice find from a trip to Bordeaux earlier in the year. 2007 Este de Bodegas Alto Almanzora (Vino de Mesa)
$ 7.99There are 10,000 cases of Alto AlmanzoraÂ’s 2007 Este, a blend of 45% Monastrell, 25% Tempranillo, and the balance Syrah, Garnacha, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is sourced from the little-known DO of Almeria located in eastern Andalucia in the south-east of Spain. The wine was aged for six months in French and American oak. Deep purple in color (remarkably dense for its humble price), it offers up a kinky, full-blown nose of smoke, spice box, and wild blueberry. Ripe, succulent, and layered, this bargain-priced, hedonistic effort totally over-delivers. $ 9.99Le Bord'Eaux is an outstanding value. 100% Merlot and 100% estate bottled from delineated sources on the eastern side of Bordeaux, it comes from a 10.5 hectare section of a 13.5 ha vineyard site. Estate bottled wine at $9.99 (try that trick in sunny California!)? The disposition of the wine is easy. It is perfectly ripe, has a chocolate-y core quality, some mineral notes, and a supple texture. If there is any fault, and this is when the downside is the upside, the wine is to drink up and is not so structured. The undemanding quality will make some converts. 88 points Rhett Beiletti, B-21

$ 9.99Perhaps the finest effort I have ever tasted from this property, the 2008 lÂ’Estang, made from yields of 30 hectoliters per hectare, is loaded with fruit and density. A blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, it offers pure black currant and black cherry notes interwoven with notions of soil and subtle oak in a medium to full-bodied, lush style that should provide gorgeous drinking for 5-7 years. Buying wine futures allows you to lock in a significantly discounted price relative to what the wine will sell for on general release. When the wine arrives at B-21, customers who purchased futures will be notified that the wine is ready for shipment. 2008 Bordeaux will begin arriving in 2011.
