This is "bang for your buck" Spanish red and it is one of the finest values we have ever tasted from anywhere. It packs a punch with its rich concentration of fruit and it is thoroughly delicious to drink now. One to purchase by the case; don't miss it! Parker wrote: There are 10,000 cases of Alto Almanzora’s 2007 Este, a blend of 45% Monastrell, 25% Tempranillo, and the balance Syrah, Garnacha, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is sourced from the little-known DO of Almeria located in eastern Andalucia in the south-east of Spain. The wine was aged for six months in French and American oak. Deep purple in color (remarkably dense for its humble price), it offers up a kinky, full-blown nose of smoke, spice box, and wild blueberry. Ripe, succulent, and layered, this bargain-priced, hedonistic effort totally over-delivers. Buy it by the palette load and drink it over the next three years.
2004 Gallo Family Merlot Reserve (Sonoma)
$ 7.99"Another superb bargain is the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma. Notions of cassis, bay leaf, licorice, and wood emerge from this dark ruby/purple-colored effort. On the palate, pure cassis and dusty, loamy soil characteristics are accompanied by admirable fruit, medium to full body, and a silky texture. All four of these wines are sensational bargains." 88 points - Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, Issue 180 "Great job with a Cab this dry and balanced, at such a fair price. Shows classic balance and elegance, with black currant, anise and smoky oak flavors. Now through 2009." 88 points - Wine Enthusiast, November 15, 2008 "Firm, spicy and full-bodied, offering minty herb, dried currant and berry flavors, with mineral, sage and cedary oak. Ends with drying tannins. Drink now through 2013. 11,492 cases made." 87 points - Wine Spectator, August 3, 2009

2008 Chateau Le Thil 'Comte Clary' (Rouge) (Pessac-Leognan) 375ML »FUTURES«
$ 8.49A brilliant overachiever as well as a sleeper of the vintage, this dense ruby/purple-tinged 2008 emerges from a vineyard site not far from Smith-Haut-Lafitte. A blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon that was cropped at very low yields as a result of challenging flowering and growing conditions, it boasts a deep ruby/purple color along with a sweet nose of tobacco leaf, red currants, and blacker fruits. Opulent, round, and pure with good underlying acidity as well as ripe tannin, it should be drunk over the next 7-8 years. 90-92 Points, Robert Parkers' Wine Advocate, Issue#182. Avalon 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon
$ 9.98For the second straight year Avalon’s Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has taken top honors at our under $15 Cabernet Shootout. The 2007 Avalon Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was up against nine other top-selling Cabernet-based wines from California (’07 Snap Dragon Cab, ’07 Cannonball Cab, ’07 Foxglove Cab) Chile (’07 Koyle Cab), Argentina (’08 Cuevas de las Manos Cab ’08 Maipe Cab), Australia (’08 Darby & Joan Cab, ’06 Kangarilla Road Cab) and France (’07 La Forge Cab), all exceptional value red wines. In the end it was no contest as Avalon was chosen the best tasting wine by 29 of the 35 tasters in attendance. No wonder it is our best selling wine! We think you should experience this top-notch Napa Cab for yourself, so for a limited time you can save an additional dollar off (Was $10.98, Now $9.98) this already well-priced Cabernet. Tasting Note: With its deep crimson color the 2007 Avalon Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits aromas of raspberry, blackberry, mint and black cherries. Vanilla and short bread cookie notes bring balance and frame the ripe berry flavors. Small barrel oak aging gives the wine additional breadth and weight on the palate. Napa Valley characteristics show through with strawberries, red raspberries and a faint root beer note with quintessential Oakville dark cherries. The tannins are fine and give off a velvety texture. Supple, elegant and richly flavored, this is classic Napa Valley Cabernet at a price we can all live with. That is why it is our best selling wine and why you should try it if you haven’t already. Come and get it. Robert Parker is a huge fan of this value Cabernet as well and wrote: As one might expect, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa is a slightly deeper wine [than the California bottling] displaying a more saturated ruby/purple color in addition to sweet creme de cassis, smoked herb, loamy soil, cedar, and spice characteristics. It should drink well for 3-4 years. I enjoyed Avalon’s 2006 efforts, and in 2007 (a brilliant vintage throughout California for nearly every varietal) they have again turned in strong performances. 88 Points - "a very, very good wine!" 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petite Syrah.
"The 2007 Pillar Box Red, a blend of 65% Shiraz, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Merlot. Purple-colored, it exhibits an expressive nose of spice box, earth notes, blueberry, and black currant. Ripe, sweet, and layered, this nicely rendered red has exceptional balance and length for its humble price." 90 points - jay Miller for Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, Issue 181

2008 Croix Mouton (Bordeaux Superieur) »FUTURES«
$ 10.99One of the estates owned by Jean-Philippe Janoueix, this consistently well-made Bordeaux Superieur was fashioned from low yields of 27 hectoliters per hectare. Its opaque ruby/purple hue is accompanied by sweet aromas of graphite, charcoal, blackberries, and blue fruits. A blend of 87% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc, it exhibits a beautiful texture, medium to full body, and a long finish. Another sleeper of the vintage, it should be consumed during its first 3-4 years of life. 89-90 Points, Robert Parkers' Wine Advocate, Issue#182 The term wine future refers to buying wine shortly after it is made at the winery, but before it is bottled and shipped. Buying wine futures allows you to lock in a significantly discounted price relative to what the wine will sell for on general release. Chateau Arnauton 2009 Fronsac - Futures
$ 12.98The basic cuvee, the 2009 Arnauton (98% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc) tastes just as good, and has even more punch with 14.5% alcohol. A sleeper of the vintage, its opaque purple hue is followed by sweet aromas of blueberries, blackberries, charcoal, incense, and graphite. Full-bodied, powerful, and layered, like its sibling, it is very impressive, and for the significant difference in price, this would be my choice. Both wines should drink well for two years. (Tasted once.)
Clos de los Siete 2007 Proprietary Red Wine
$ 14.98There may be no finer red wine value in Argentina than this superb blend of 48% Malbec, 28% Merlot, 12% Syrah, and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is aged for 11 months, two-thirds in 100% new French oak and the balance in vat and bottled without fining or filtration. Opaque purple-colored, the wine coats the glass while offering up a superb bouquet of toasty oak, violets, mineral, black currant, blueberry, and black cherry. This is followed by a layered wine with gobs of ripe fruit, a plush texture, outstanding balance, and several years of aging potential (not that many buyers will be laying this down). This lengthy effort over-delivers and then some. Located right at the foothills of the Andes in a magnificent setting, this Michel Rolland project is off to a flying start. Currently 430 hectares out of a total of 850 are densely planted so there will be no lack of wine to go around.
2006 Rutherford Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa)
$ 14.99"Also a superb value, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon (82% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Petit Verdot) exhibits a dark ruby/purple-tinged color, a classic bouquet of black currants, white chocolate, and subtle herb as well as oak notes, plush, succulent flavors, sweet tannin, and a luscious texture. Drink it over the next 4-5 years." 88 Points, Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, Issue # 180, Dec 2008

Purple-colored, it reveals a fragrant array of scents including pepper, spice box, smoke, blackberry, black currant, and blueberry pie. Plush in texture, the wine is full-bodied, with layers of spicy fruit, intense flavors, and well-concealed tannins. Drink this superb value now and over the next 6-8 years. " 91 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocated #169 (FEB 2007) 91 points (RP) & less than $15? Now I love great wines, but usually if I buy wines that score 91 or higher, Im looking for change in my sofa cushions to pay my mortgage. All joking aside, if you are like me, youre looking for great wines that wont drive you to foreclosure. Where are these great values? Plain and simple: Spain. Now of course its my job to be informed on the wines from Spain, but this is not just another great wine from Spain, its a damn good wine period. It is named after the adorable little village it is located in called El Vilosell in the D.O. of Costers del Segre which borders Tarragona and Priorat. Predominantly Tempranillo, this blend also contains 17% Merlot, 13% Cabernet and 5% Syrah. On the nose you can smell blackberry, blueberry and pepper with tiny hints of cocoa. It is a gobsmacker for your taste buds with lots of dark fruits, cherry and touches of toast and spice. ¡Delicioso!" Summer Martin, 91+ POINTS! "(50% tempranillo, 26% cabernet sauvignon, 10% merlot, 9% garnacha and 5% syrah) Opaque ruby. Cassis, violet and cured meat on the nose, with slow-building oak spices. Licorice and mineral notes gain strength with air and carry onto the palate, adding complexity to the sweet cherry and blackcurrant flavors. Finishes with good grip and lingering dark berry notes. This is drinking very well right now." 90 points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Sep/Oct 08
