    $ 24.99

    "Mapema is run jointly by longtime winemakers Pepe Galante and Mariano di Paoloa. The 2002 Primera Zona is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Malbec, and 20% Merlot. It is a saturated purple with an evolved nose offering lots of spice, black currants, and black cherry. The flavors already offer complexity although the palate provides a youthful impression with enough structure to support several more years of evolution. It should drink well through 2025." 90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Issue 174

  20. 2002 Zealear Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley "Reprise"

    $ 47.95

    The wine paints a unique palette of fruit flavors, strawberry and plum with black cherry. The texture is layered with a solid tannic structure, silkiness, and mineral elements. Spice flavors are chocolate, mint, cassis and sweet oak mixed with smoke. Bordeaux in style and nicely balanced, the wine’s flavor and texture radiate. Grapes for this blend were taken from three wonderful vineyards. The Cab came from south Napa, near the Stags Leap District, and the Rutherford Bench. The Merlot is from St. Helena. The wine was aged for 24 months in French barrels, 40% new. Although very drinkable now, the wine will improve with cellaring for those who are patient. Limited production of only 800 cases made. The fanciful name Reprise, in musical terms, is a return to the first theme. This Cabernet Sauvignon is that renewal, a turn back to our first experience with winemaking, almost twenty years ago. Zealear Wines represent California vintages at their finest. Produced in Napa, Sonoma and the Central Coast, Zealear Wines are selective in the origin of their grapes to assure production of the finest wine of its type. Their wines are given musical names to reflect the tonal nature and nuances of each varietal, as well as the essential instruments dedicated to the winemaking. Owners, Candida and Brian Zealear, are dedicated to producing wines in small lots in order to preserve their handcrafted nature.
