2006 Au Bon Climat, Chardonnay "375ML" 1/2 Bottles
$ 11.99Burgundian in sensibility but with California style is one way of describing Jim Clendenen's Chardonnays- Structure and restraint melded with bountiful opulence is another. In the glass, buttery brioche marries with tropical fruits in an irresistible elixir that will leave the bottle drained before you know it. Try it with turbot for a match of delicacy and richness. Deliciously complex and stylish, rich, earthy and oily, with layers of fig, toasty oak, nectarine, citrus. A long finish keeps pumping out the flavors. Within the heart of Santa Barbara County is the Au Bon Climat winery, situated on the world-famous Bien Nacido Vineyard. Renowned winemaker and owner, Jim Clendenen, induces his wines with a creative and energetic edge. It began in 1982 as a partnership between Adam Tolmach and Clenenden and quickly obtained a reputation for their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The grapes for these wines come from the greatest vineyards within the Santa Barbara region from such locations as Santa Ynez and Santa Maria Valleys. Some are also sourced from the Edna Valleys and Arroyo Grande region. In 1989 and 1990, Robert Parker acknowledged Au Bon Climat as one of the best wineries of the world. Also, Clendenen has been named Winemaker of the Year in 1992 by the Los Angeles Times, as well as received recognition in 2001 by Food and Wine Magazine. This reputable winery lives up to its translated meaning, âa well-exposed vineyard,â producing internationally-recognized wines.

2006 Firesteed Pinot Noir Oregon
$ 12.99"Reductive, rubbery and closed at first, this wine breathes into life, with cranberry and tart berry fruit augmented with hints of butter and spice. In terms of style and weight, it could pass for a Beaujolais from a cooler vintage. Its a wine to drink chilled, and it would be fine as an accompaniment to roasted chicken or turkey." 84 points - Wine Enthusiast, December 15, 2008
2005 Charles Cimicky Trumps Grenache/Shiraz Barossa Valley
$ 13.99"Bright red. Intensely spicy red berry aromas remind me of high-end New World pinot; this boasts impressive purity and thrust. Exotic baking spices accent fresh strawberry and raspberry fruit, with silky tannins adding gentle support. Sweetness builds on the long, juicy, very precise finish. It's hard to believe that this wine is carrying 15.5% alcohol. The grenache vines used for this bottling are reportedly 80 years old." 90 points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Jul/Aug 07 "An outstanding bargain, the 2005 Grenache/Shiraz Trumps (72% Grenache and 28% Shiraz aged 15 months in old French oak) possesses a deep ruby/purple color, copious fruit, superb purity, and a touch of background wood. It is a full-bodied, powerful, amazingly flavorful wine for the price. Enjoy it over the next 2-3 years." 89 points - Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, Issue 167 (Oct 2006) "Firm and spicy, with a distinct licorice note running through the dark fruit flavors, lingering nicely against fine tannins. Best from 2008 through 2015. 1,000 cases made." 89 points - Wine Spectator, October 15, 2007 "A blend of 65% Grenache and 35% Shiraz, this is a lush, easy-to-drink wine meant for early consumption. The blend brings stone fruit and cherries, underscored by spice cake and chocolate, with hints of espresso and cola on the finish." 89 points - Wine Enthusiast, November 1, 2007
