2006 Hoyt Family Vineyards Chardonnay
$ 40.00We are talking Hollywood baby! Rich and creamy, this California style Chardonnay has intense aromas of pear, green apple, toasted spice and integrated oak. With the same fruit flavors reflected on the palate, this wine has a nice balance of fruit, abundant acids and finishes in long buttery richness. Seeing 10 months in French oak and 100% malo-lactic fermentation, only 200 cases of this boutique wine were handcrafted by vintner, Carol Hoyt. High on a hill, in the rugged coast of California, a tiny vineyard enjoys warm days, cool nights and maritime breezes; the perfect weather for Chardonnay. Wine enthusiasts Carol and Stephen Hoyt fell in love with Napa, and dreamed that someday, they would own a vineyard and become winemakers. With careers in Los Angeles, a Napa vineyard was out of the picture. Not giving up their dream, the Hoytâs planted 2 acres of Chardonnay grapes in the backyard of their Malibu Ranch property. The dream is now a reality, with Carol Hoyt happily handcrafting California style wines from their own backyard vineyard. Hoyt does everything by hand with the assistance of winemaker, Etienne Terlinden. While not currently a recognized AVA, several boutique wineries are growing vineyards in the Malibu area. Sharing a climate similar to Santa Ynez, perhaps it is only the high price of real estate and frequent fires that steer other winemakers away from this prime grape growing area.
