  3. 2007 Chateau Oupia (Minervois)

    $ 9.99

    Iche has crafted a 2007 Minervois Tradition that smells of ripe cassis and black cherries tinged with resinous herbs and bitter fruit pit and toasted nuts, elements that all contribute to its almost silken-textured palate impression where one finds underlying richness of salted beef stock and dark chocolate. In the best manner of its vintage, we have here a combination of richness and elegance. The finish of chocolate-covered black fruits, bouillon, and herbal concentrate is not in the least superficially sweet, but instead remains possessed of real refreshment, with the cyanic note of cherry stone and tincture of iodine offering lasting, subtly bitter counterpoint. This exceptional value should be a delight over at least the next 2-3 years. Andre Iche renders a style of Minervois slightly reminiscent of Marc Tempe’s (at Domaine Courbissac) in its restraint and sheer refreshment – traits rare in this appellation – as well as in its complexity. From centenarian Carignan, with smaller amounts of Syrah and Grenache. 90 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (Aug 2009) Syrah, Carignan and Grenache from hillside sites. A real value, this wine, bright and fresh, delivers real intensity of flavor, blackberry, smoked meats and dried fruits, and a nice underlying minerality. For those you buying the 2005 from us before, you will recognize the wine, that is the beauty of domaine bottled wines. 89 Points, Rhett Beiletti, B-21

  4. 2005 J.Kerr Californio Chardonnay

    $ 10.95

     "This may be the best price to value wine I have ever tasted. It's hard to imagine that a wine that spent two years in barrels then another year in bottle could sell for this price. Ultrarich and concentrated, with layers of fig, citrus and tangerine flavors that are shaded by toasty oak, filling out the flavor profile and ending with a complex marshmallow edge. Drink now through 2011". CPM 05/2008 For much of his wine career John Kerr has been famed for his way with Chardonnay and Santa Barbara County's Bien Nacido Vineyard gave him the perfect fruit to show what he could do with the grape. This amazing Chardonnay is a blend of grapes from his 2004-2005 barrels. The beautifully balanced Californio (Original Mexican term for California) wine is barrel fermented but not overly oaked. It is light and crisp with lots of tropical fruit flavors and a perfect acidity and balance. This wine is rich, fresh and lively. A beautiful blend from one of the Born to a career Navy Officer, John spent his childhood moving around the country.
