  3. Clos de los Siete 2007 Proprietary Red Wine

    $ 14.98

    There may be no finer red wine value in Argentina than this superb blend of 48% Malbec, 28% Merlot, 12% Syrah, and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is aged for 11 months, two-thirds in 100% new French oak and the balance in vat and bottled without fining or filtration. Opaque purple-colored, the wine coats the glass while offering up a superb bouquet of toasty oak, violets, mineral, black currant, blueberry, and black cherry. This is followed by a layered wine with gobs of ripe fruit, a plush texture, outstanding balance, and several years of aging potential (not that many buyers will be laying this down). This lengthy effort over-delivers and then some. Located right at the foothills of the Andes in a magnificent setting, this Michel Rolland project is off to a flying start. Currently 430 hectares out of a total of 850 are densely planted so there will be no lack of wine to go around.

It's juicy and round, the muscular structure holding the fruit in check. An ideal match for game. Clos de los Siete is Michel Rolland's project high up in Mendoza's Uco Valley." 91 points - Wine & Spirits, February 2009 "Clos de los Siete, the amalgmated product of Michel Rolland’s Uco Valley wine commune, is rich, round and ripe, with deep aromas and trimmings like polished oak and minerality. The wine is proper, medium to full in size, and full of blackberry, plum and cocoa. No hiccups, pure fruit and complexity make this stellar for the price." 90 points - Wine Enthusiast, August 1, 2009

  6. 2002 Croze Cabernet Sauvignon

    $ 32.00

    The last of ancient Cabernet vines! Dark ruby to the rim, this wine is showing fine balance between gentle spicy wood and lovely mouth-coating tannins that integrate nicely with full fruit flavors. On the attack: earthy dark fruits lead to a long, generous finish with mint and a hint of spice. Believing that wine making is the perfect synthesis of art and science, winemaker, Gary Wooton’s passion is handcrafting small production wines in the Bordeaux style. Wooton's latest Cabernet masterpiece produced only 618 cases from the ancient vines of Longwood Ranch. Wooton artfully balanced the intense, mature fruit using both new and used French oak barrels from the Nevers' forest. Barrel aged 40 months; followed by two years of bottle aging, this rich and fruity Cabernet has a round mouth feel, smooth tannins and lingering finish. Ready to sip and savor now, this Bordeaux style beauty is destined for elegance and will improve for years to come. Deconinck Family Vineyards, Longwood Ranch is located in the beautifully rugged mountains at the southern end of the Napa Valley, close to the vineyards of Luna, William Hill and Jarvis. Established by the Deconinck Family of Bordeaux, France, the cabernet vines produced a low-yield of concentrated fruit. The final vintage from these ancient vines was used to make this outstanding 100% cabernet.

  7. 2008 La Confession (Saint-Emilion) »FUTURES«

    $ 32.99

    This is an amazing effort among the many dazzling 2008 St.-Emilions. Proprietor Jean-Philippe Janoueix (who appears to be in his mid-thirties) has produced a riveting wine from a blend of 66% Merlot and 34% Cabernet Franc that tips the scales at 13.8% natural alcohol. Janoueix, an advocate of high density vine plantings, has fashioned a 2008 with sensational fruit levels, an inky ruby/purple color, stunning texture (akin to a Shanghai skyscraper), and tremendous purity. Despite 100% malolactic in new French oak, and aging in the weird looking cigar-shaped barrels, the oak is well-concealed by the wine’s wealth of fruit and concentration. Chocolate, charcoal, blackberry, and blueberry aromas and flavors dominate this sensational effort. It possesses high tannins, but, like so many of the top wines of this vintage, they are sweet and ripe. 92-94 Points, Robert Parkers' Wine Advocate, Issue#182 The term wine future refers to buying wine shortly after it is made at the winery, but before it is bottled and shipped. Buying wine futures allows you to lock in a significantly discounted price relative to what the wine will sell for on general release. When the wine arrives at B-21, customers who purchased futures will be notified that the wine is ready for shipment. 2008 Bordeaux will begin arriving in 2011.

  8. 2006 Santa Ema 'Catalina' Cabernet Sauvignon

    $ 34.95

    An homage to our roots, inspired by the style and elegance of the owner’s wife, Catalina Moreno-Rodillo. This is an intense, ripe, and well-structured ripe tannins. A mouthfilling wine with tremendous fruit expression that is reflected in the ample and long finish. A wine that reflects the qualities of the varieties that go into it: 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Carmenère, and 7% Cabernet Franc. Hand picked in small 15 kg (33 lb) boxes from April 20 through May 10, depending on the variety. 14 months in French oak barrels (100% new). Deep, bright red, classic and elegant, with aromas of red fruits, and cherries that blend with notes of tobacco and vanilla that lend great complexity.   In 1917 a young Pedro Pavone-Voglino left his homeland in Italy’s Piamonte wine region and embarked upon the long journey to the New World. His pioneering spirit led him to Chile and allowed him to come to know the beauty and benefits of the Maipo Valley. Captivated by the area’s landscape and its particular qualities for wine production, he decided to settle there and acquired the land that is now Viña Santa Ema in 1931. He began producing grapes for vinification, which, due to their quality were sold to well-known Chilean wineries. He married Marta Arbea Perrot in the small town of Isla de Maipo, where their children and descendents still live today. In 1956, ‘Don’ Pedro and his oldest son, Félix Pavone-Arbea, began making and marketing bottled wines that soon earned recognition by the industry and consumers alike. Félix Pavone continued the work of his father, married Catalina Moreno, settled into the family home in Isla de Maipo and had four children: María Cecilia, Félix, Rossana, and Pilar, who have all actively worked in the winery since their youth. In the late 1960s the winery purchased a significant amount of land in the Peumo sector of the Cachapoal Valley. This area is particularly known for its high quality red varietals, such as Carignan, Carignan, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and, of course, Carmenère. The company’s first exports began in 1986 with shipments to Brazil. Today Santa Ema wines are exported to more than 30 countries in th
